Before You Start
You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to allow you to view and print your NH license. Please make sure your printer is in working order.

Notice: Hunting and Fishing licenses are legal documents intended to be purchased by the licensee. Pursuant to RSA 214:23 No person shall hold more than one hunting or fishing license at the same time. Refunds will not be granted for duplicate licenses purchased by others.

The license or lottery application buying process is fairly easy, especially if you have some essential pieces of information ready before you begin. To purchase a NH hunting license online, you must have held a NH hunting license in the year 2000 or later. This allows us to confirm your entry in our licensing database in order to comply with hunter education requirements. No such requirements apply to fishing-only licenses or moose lottery applications. This is a good time to get out your driver's license, credit card, a previous 2000 or later NH hunting license, or your current year license if you are buying additional licenses.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover for payment of license fees.

A note about refunds: In the event that you accidentally purchase more than one license while you are online, or have a problem printing your first license and purchase a second license, please be aware that there is no provision within State law that provides the Department with the authority to refund license monies; it is the Department's policy not to issue refunds for licensees error. For program system errors please contact the Department for review and consideration. Any amount refunded will be less $1 per license and a 2.75% credit card fee. Moose Lottery Applications are NOT refundable.
General Licensing Information
General Information: A general hunting, fishing or archery license is required for people 16 years of age and over. Minors, under 16, are required to purchase the following special licenses: Broodstock Salmon, Special Archery Deer, Turkey Permit, Bear License and Unit M special Deer tag. Non-resident minors under the age of 16 are also required to purchase a muzzleloader license. Minors are not required to pay a Wildlife Habitat Fee or file a Harvest Information Survey (H.I.P).
Note: When purchasing licenses for minors under 18 years of age, who DO NOT hold a valid driver's license or state issued non-driver photo identification, please enter the parent or legal guardian's driver license number. The license is issued to the minor, with their information entered. The driver's license number is a required field and must be entered before you can continue with the purchase of a license. On Moose Lottery Applications ALL applicants must provide their own INDIVIDUAL driver's license or state issued Non Driver Identification card.

Over Age 68 Permanent Licenses are issued free to residents of New Hampshire who are 68 years of age or older. These permanent licenses are not available online, but they can be obtained at traditional license agents throughout the state. More information is available under License Fees & Requirements above. Secondary licenses (those not covered by the Over Age 68 License) may be purchased online.

Fishing Licenses: Allow the taking of all species in the freshwaters of the state, EXCEPT Atlantic salmon brood stock. Temporary 1- Day Fishing Licenses are available to both resident and non-residents, 3 and 7-Day Fishing Licenses are available only to non-residents, dates for use intended will be requested at the time of purchase and the dates must be consecutive.

Lottery and Permit Applications: A hunting license is not required to apply for the Moose Lottery. However, a current year NH hunting or archery license is required to apply for a Unit M Antlerless Deer Permit.
